WritersLock
What Is WritersLock?
Overview
WritersLock is a journaling app for iPhone and Android that locks your distracting apps until you've written today's entry. Write first, scroll later. Instead of relying on willpower, it makes your phone's most tempting apps the reward for showing up to the page, so a daily writing habit actually sticks. More than 2,000 writers use it.
How It Works
Choose which apps to lock and when, so the rest of your phone keeps working. When you try to open a locked app, you're reminded to write first. Hit your daily writing goal and everything unlocks for the rest of the day. Tomorrow, the lock resets and the habit continues.
Key Features
App locking you control: pick which apps get locked and on what schedule.
Many ways to write: a journal entry, a gratitude log, a dream diary, or a guided prompt when you don't know where to start.
Daily goal unlock: reach your goal and your apps unlock for the day.
Private by design: entries are encrypted and never leave your device.
iPhone and Android: available on the App Store and Google Play.
Use Cases
Break the morning doomscroll by writing before you open social media.
Build a daily journaling or gratitude habit that survives past week one.
Keep a dream diary while the details are still fresh.
Warm up before a creative writing session.
Cut down screen time without deleting the apps you actually use.
Who It's For
WritersLock is for anyone who wants to journal but keeps losing the time to their phone: people trying to start a journaling habit, writers who want a daily warm-up, and anyone who reaches for social media on autopilot.
Getting Started
Download WritersLock from the App Store or Google Play, choose the apps you want locked, set your daily goal, and write your first entry. The WritersLock blog has a beginner's guide to journaling with prompts and tips that help the habit last.
Pricing & Plans
WritersLock starts with a free 3-day trial, then continues as a subscription. Choose the apps, set your goal, and see whether a phone that waits for you to write changes your day.
